It was a rough night for The Professional Sports Gambler. Remind me never to wager on Phoenix, on the road, on the second half of a back to back, with a young, strong big-man....Damn that one hurt.
Phoenix @ Minnesota: - 200
- I know Minnesota played Phoenix tough at home last time, with a huge upset. BUT, it was the last game of a long road trip, and I chalked it up as a 'fluke'. I guess it's not a fluke now...
- Al Jefferson is a beast, and I've raised his rating accordingly. Hard to argue with 39 - 15.
- Phoenix Suns just got murdered in the paint. Anytime the offensive rebound disparity is 22-3, you can't win. I don't know that I've ever seen a team so completely dominated inside. Phoenix Suns shot the ball TWENTY fewer times!
- I have to nudge D'Antoni down a bit...he is a stubborn friggin' coach. He refused to double Al Jefferson until the last 5 minutes, when it was too late. And, when Amare get's in foul trouble, he goes SMALL instead of bringing someone in who can play Jefferson. I realize that's his style, but sometimes you gotta get the hot shooter off his rhythm, right? And going small in a game where your out rebounded so completely...really?
- Big Z doesn't miss a shot, and the night got away from Washington...and some of his shots were circus shots that had no business going in. Even Drew Gooden goes 7 - 13...Just one of those nights.
- Washington Wizards could not have shot the ball worse, and it wasn't Cleveland's great 'D'. Just a lot of open shots that didn't fall.
- Toronto Raptors with FOUR players with 20+, and shoot 58% from the floor overall, and goes 15-21 on 3s. Carlos Delfino goes 5-5. Yep, one of those nights here, too.
- Another loss, Celtics get knocked down a snidge, as they're only 6-4 over their last 10.
- Although I've dinged San Antonio a little in the past week, at home I felt like their demise was premature.
- Kobe with 9 turnovers, which was offset by Manu Ginoboli's horrific shooting night (2-12).
- Much as I hate Ginoboli, you have to watch the highlight real of his game. A sick behind-the-back pass to Duncan (who made a difficult, running, fading off balance bank shot), and TWO between the legs passes to himself. Hilarious!
- Don't look now, but the HORNETS now have the best record in the west, and have won 6 straight!
- Nice to see their bench contribute, as Janero Pargo goes off for 24 points in just 24 minutes!
- Anyone notice that James Jones is shooting over 50% on 3-pointers? And Phoenix just let him walk...
